Thank you for reading the news about Bayern Munich’s Flick talks potential Al Ahly clash at Club World Cup and now with the details

- Yasmine El Tohamy - FC Bayern Munich manager, Hans-Dieter Flick, has talked about the upcoming 2020 FIFA Club World Cup, set to begin next month.

The tournament is set to take place between February 1st and February 11th in Qatar with three stadiums set to host the games: Ahmad Bin Ali, Khalifa International and Education City stadiums.

The opening match was supposed to be between Qatari champions Al Duhail and Auckland City of New Zealand. However, Auckland announced their withdrawal from the competition due to COVID-19.

As a result, the first round will no longer take place and Al Duhail will begin the competition from the second round along with three other teams.

The draw revealed that Al Duhail will face Qatari champions Al Duhail in the second round of the Club World Cup.

FIFA also announced that if Al Ahly overcome Al Duhail, they will come up against European champions Bayern Munich, who won five trophies last year.

“It’s always the case at Bayern Munich that you want to have the most successful season possible,” Flick said via

“And after the treble, you’re obviously looking at the FIFA Club World Cup. We’re quite simply motivated to win something else, so we’re all obviously really looking forward to the Club World Cup.”

“That would probably be the icing on the cake, but it’s obviously going to be a challenge.

“I know what it’s like from working with the national team. At European Championships, or for us in the Champions League, you always play European teams.

“Coming up against South American, Asian or African sides is always a little bit different in terms of the mentality of your opponents.

“On the one hand, as I’ve just said, it’s the mindset and the way the players are set up, but you also come across the occasional new concept as regards the way you imagine and eventually play the game.

“From that point of view, I’m really looking forward to seeing and analysing what the tournament has to offer and maybe picking up some fresh ideas.

“This is why it’s always really special when you get a global perspective on something and get to play against the best teams in the world,” he concluded.
