Neres escapes red and helps Brazil U23 to victory

David Neres and Danilo Pereira, rented out by Ajax to FC Twente this season, have achieved success with the Brazilian Olympic team. In Egypt, the South Americans won 1-3 against South Korea U23. Danilo came in after 87 minutes, while Neres managed to draw all the attention with a mixed performance.

The Ajax player showed his best side, but also his worst side. After seven minutes, he personally took care of South Korea’s 1-0, by losing the ball on the back line to avoid a corner. He gave the doctrine to the opponent, after which Lee Dong-Gyeong opened the score on behalf of the South Koreans.

Neres, however, picked up on the stroke of half time by giving a beautiful cross to teammate Rodrygo, who, however, shot the ball against the goalkeeper. However, Matheus Cunha paid close attention, used the rebound and thus rewarded Neres for his good cross. After the break, however, the Ajax player had to stop after he got into a fight with an opponent. The two handed each other headbutts, normally good for a red card, but both got away with a yellow print.

Later Neres would have the 1-2 on his shoe, but he failed from a promising position. In the end he would still be worth gold to his team, by preparing the 1-2. After a nice chat with teammate Emerson, the attacker curled the ball towards the far corner of the goal. The goalkeeper turned his back, but could not prevent Rodrygo from giving Brazil the lead. Later Reinier would make it 1-3.
