Mamelodi Sundowns manager Pitso Mosimane believes that his side are able to comeback from their 2-0 defeat to Al Ahly in the CAF Champions League quarter-finals.

Al Ahly defeated Mamelodi Sundowns 2-0 in a tough encounter last Saturday, thanks to a brace from Ali Maaloul.

Ahead of the second leg, Mosimane said that they will keep their style of play despite the difficulty of the encounter and believes they can score two or more goals.

“We are going to play the same way because it’s our philosophy. Why should we play different? It’s normal, we play the same way. Barcelona play the same every week and Al Ahly, the way they play this year is the same as last year, there’s no difference – tactically, and I can argue with that because I am a coach,” Mosimane told Soccer Laduma.

“If you say there’s a tactically difference, there isn’t. It’s the same way. What is different? I can’t change the way we play. Al Ahly were pushing us back, why should I go up when they come inside? I had to protect the goals. The game would have been different if we didn’t miss the goals in the first 20 seconds. I am crying for that opportunity in that first 20 seconds. We could be talking a different story today.

“If you ask the coach (Rene Weiler) whether he can score two goals here, of course he will say yes. That’s normal because if he says he won’t score two goals here, then the Al Ahly people will never be happy with him.

“So it’s the same. If I say I can’t score the two goals, I will lose my job. So I need to keep my job. So I am going to say we can score, sometimes we score three or more. We scored 11 in one of the games, so we can score two,” he concluded.

The Red Devils will visit Mamelodi Sundowns next Saturday, March 7th at the Lucas Moripe Studium. Kick-off takes place at 15:00 CLT.
