FPL GW8 Tips: Fixtures, Captain, Man Utd Reserves in Mini-League ‘Ole...

Fast reads

We have some GW8 tips. But why are these young people from Manchester United in an FPL mini-league called “Ole Out”?

GW7 stood out for having some great goals scored by unlikely players.

Full-backs Ola Aina and Rayan Ait-Nouri got beauties for Fulham and Wolves, while pot-shot lover Kyle Walker took on Manchester City.

More importantly, it was a huge relief to the few FPL bosses that Son Heung-Min was still tenaciously leaving out.

The Tottenham striker – GW7’s second most popular captain – has been hidden after three straight moves.

It was time.

GW8 could be huge in terms of fantasy and real football as Liverpool visit Man City and his team of annoying rotating attacking talent.

Will Jürgen Klopp trust Diogo Jota to continue his form in the biggest game of the season so far? Can a returning Gabriel Jesus take some of the gate load off poor Kyle Walker?

These are our tips for FPL GW8.

Best pairings

Man City – Liverpool

You can no longer visit your grandparents, but if there are games like this on a Sunday afternoon, why would you want that?

The last two games between City and Liverpool have scored four goals each: Liverpool won 3-1 almost exactly a year ago at Anfield, and City won 4-0 at Etihad in July – although Klopp’s men had already secured the title then.

Phil Foden (£ 6.6m) was thrashing brilliantly this July, however Diogo Jota (£ 6.4 million) might be the better option in this price range on the current form.

Remember that all assets of £ 11m + FPL – Mo Salah, Sadio Mähne, Kevin De Bruyne and Raheem Sterling – scored one goal in both games last year.

Kristallpalast – Leeds

Bielsa’s all-action Leeds or Hodgson’s palace with the least action possible?

This game might be intriguing or intriguingly boring, not knowing which is intriguing itself.

One thing is certain: Leeds have already conceded four goals this season; Neither side has conceded more.

This will be music for the ears of Wilfried Zaha (£ 7.4m), who could easily win four in this game alone and who could return to the kick-kick tasks instead of the suspended Luka Milivojevic.

But an energetic Leeds will be confident of leaving that boring and uninspiring midfield of Palace behind and offering opportunities for their own talisman. Patrick Bamford (£ 6.0 million).

Finally Palace full-back Patrick van Aanholt (£ 5.4 million) is fit again and would have had nice support last week if it hadn’t been for the offside flag.

Who to captain

Timo Werner

The most FPL relevant event of the Champions League matches during the week was Timo Werner (£ 9.3 million) two penalties in Chelsea’s game against Rennes.

Frank Lampard has confirmed that Werner is now ahead of Jorginho at Stifte, and that makes the German international an extremely attractive option for a home game against Sheffield United.

Blades keeper Aaron Ramsdale suffered six penalties in the PL last season and only saved one: a really shitty attempt by Danny Ings.

Harry Kane

Harry Kane (£ 11.0 million) scored his 200th Tottenham in the Europa League on Thursday and was duly substituted on at halftime to put his feet up.

He will enjoy the chance to increase his goalscoring rate against the sad West Brom.

On a side note: Kane and Branislav Ivanovic have not resisted the start of XI since the battle for the bridge in May 2016 when Spurs lost their heads and Leicester conceded the title.

Ivanovic almost defeated Kane that day; he sure won’t do it on Sunday … will he?

Son of Heung-Min

Ivanovic actually passed the ball to Harry Kane to score a goal for Son Heung-Min (£ 9.6m) in the battle for the bridge.

The Serbian international was 32 years old at the time and (probably) not got any faster. Semi Ajayi was 22, playing for Cardiff Reserves on loan from Crewe.

Man utd kids mock ole over FPL

Since the beginning of the campaign, we’ve searched the FPL database to find professional players with FPL teams. (Last week we took a look at the teams of some of the Leeds players.)

We know they’re real because a lot of mini-leagues overlap: Patrick Bamford plays alongside Luke Ayling in the Leeds mini-league, who also plays in one with other former Arsenal alumni like Kyle Bartley, who also plays in the West Mini-league is playing Brom mini-league with the likes of Charlie Austin and so on.

This week we present a positively scandalous little competition.

That summer, Man Utd fired 20-year-old midfielder Angel Gomes after the academy product rejected a new contract. He went to Lille in France, where he immediately loaned it to Boavista in Portugal.

He recently met near the center line.

Watch: Ex-Man Utd star Angel Gomes scores a stunning goal from 45 meters

United has also (temporarily) got rid of 19-year-old James Garner, whom Ole Gunnar Solskjaer previously compared to Michael Carrick. He is currently on loan at Watford.

20-year-old D’Mani Bughail-Mellor is still at United but recently tore up his ACL.

Amazingly, these joke-loving youngsters compete in a mini-league called “Ole Out”. As if the poor Norwegian didn’t have enough critics.

Worse, Garner’s team called JGARNZZZMaybe he’s just making fun of Jesse Lingard and / or his clothing brand JLINGZ.

Okay, you’re probably kidding. Are you good at fantasy?

Gomes and Mellor only joined GW5, but they both get an average of 60+ a week so that’s pretty good.

Harry Maguire has a team too, but he wasn’t invited to ‘Ole Out’.

How we fared last week

What we understood correctlyt: support Kane via Son; Propose Sergio Reguilon as a Spurs option outside of the big two; Support from KDB to get back into points mode.

What we misunderstood: Put several eggs in Marcus Rashford’s basket; Sheffield United’s defense not to give enough credit to what we did again this week.
