The New York Giants ‘training staff helped save a life on the players’ weekly day off.

Safety Logan Ryan said his wife Ashley flew off to the family’s off-season in Florida to vote in the presidential election on Tuesday after the Giants lost to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Tuesday.

“I left the stadium at around 1am and she told me about some pain in her stomach,” said Ryan. “I told her that she wanted to sleep it off. She said she was in extreme pain, but she would wait until morning. I spoke to one of our trainers about the symptoms and he said, ‘No, she needs to go to the emergency room.’ ”

Following the team’s advice, Ashley was diagnosed with an ectopic pregnancy, according to her husband. The condition is caused by a fertilized egg that grows outside of a woman’s uterus and can cause life-threatening bleeding.

“The egg was about to burst, so she went for emergency surgery and they saved her and prevented much of what could have been done,” said Ryan. “A trainer on our team, Justin Maher, who told my wife to go to the emergency room at 1am could have saved her life – or saved a lot of internal bleeding there. That’s the kind of organization we have here. ”

The Ryans – college darlings who met in Rutgers, where he played soccer and she played softball – have two children. They moved to their home in New Jersey after Logan signed with the Giants in August and reunited with trainer Joe Judge.

Ryan played for the Patriots from 2013 to 2016 when Judge was assistant coach.

“My kids are fine and my wife is recovering well,” said Ryan. “Joe said, ‘If you have to fly to Florida, don’t worry about football.’ This is Joe as a man and as a trainer. I know we care about Xs and O and win and lose, but there are really good people here. That’s why I came here.

“There are really good coaches here. There are really good people behind the scenes who work hard to make us win and I will do everything I can to play for a coach and an organization like this because if it weren’t for that, I wouldn’t to do. I don’t know if my wife would be here today. And to be honest, I’m very grateful for this organization and for Joe and for everyone who understands things that are bigger than football, especially this year. ”
