Treloar’s partner has signed a deal to play netball on the Gold Coast next year and plans to move there with their new baby. Collingwood and Gold Coast discussed the idea that the player should move to the suns, but those discussions didn’t go on after Treloar said he was not interested in leaving Victoria.

Meanwhile, former demon and dockworker Jesse Hogan has signed a contract with Fremantle, foregoing a significant amount of money and accepting a new one-year contract with the Giants as he tries to revive his career as an AFL.

The 25-year-old still had a year’s contract with Dockers, but was ready to negotiate a new deal with Greater Western Sydney to get a fresh start with them.

Although the Giants forced Geelong to the trading table by adjusting their offer to restricted free agent Jeremy Cameron, they are likely to lose their leading goalkicker, so Hogan is likely to have the opportunity to regain the form he showed with Melbourne when he has scored more than 40 goals a season in three of his four years at the club.

Hogan joined the Giants when Greater Western Sydney presented the Dockers with Pick 54 they received from the West Coast for little striker Zac Langdon.

Hogan played only 19 games with the Dockers after 71 games with Melbourne.

The 2015 AFL Rising Star winner has scored 170 goals in 90 games after struggling with foot problems and mental health problems in recent years. The Giants hoped that with them he could become a long-term player.

In the meantime, Jack Steven may not be serving the final year of his contract with Geelong with sources confirming that preliminary talks have been held between the club and the player’s management that could lead to a possible payout being agreed upon, instead of staying on the list in 2021.

30-year-old Steven joined the Cats after 183 games with the Saints during last year’s trading period, but only played nine games in 2020.

The cats also had preliminary talks with the Brisbane Lions about the Nakia Cockatoo trade, with Geelong hoping for a greater return than Lions election # 42. That deal is expected to close later in the trading period.

Richmond also traded out running defender Oleg Markov for a future third-round selection against the Gold Coast. The 24-year-old should meet the needs of Suns after Pearce Hanley’s resignation. He has played six games for the Tigers this season and 23 games in his career, but has not played a final with the club in five seasons.

Collingwood list manager Ned Guy also confirmed to Trade Radio that striker Brody Mihocek had agreed to a three-year deal with the Magpies.
