Dylan Groenewegen back in training: “He is getting better”

Dylan Groenewegen has resumed training. After the much-discussed crash in the Tour of Poland with Fabio Jakobsen, the Jumbo-Visma sprinter was sidelined for a long time, partly due to a broken collarbone and the mental consequences of the crash.

Sports director Merijn Zeeman of Jumbo-Visma says that Groenewegen is back on the bike. “He is doing okay under the circumstances. It has had a huge impact on him, but he is recovering. He trains well, especially to set his sights on ”, he explains to the NOS.

Groenewegen and the Dutch WorldTour team are slowly working towards 2021. “For him, too, he must first have a calm overview of the season and then set goals for the coming season,” says Zeeman.

Tour de France
After the presentation of the Tour de France course for 2021, Groenewegen’s name also comes to the fore. Eight stages are made for the sprinters. Zeeman does not want to anticipate the selection. “It is clear that Dylan is a very important rider for this team, but we must first wait and see what the UCI decides on his case,” he said.

The UCI disciplinary committee has yet to make a ruling after the incident in Poland. Until then, Jumbo-Visma will keep the sprinter aside.
