The Eels will provide an NRL career lifeline to titans Bryce Cartwright in hopes of reaching his once-endless potential in rugby league.

The Sydney Morning Herald reported that the Eels will sign Cartwright for a year with a guarantee of a top 30 spot in 2021.

The former Panthers and Titans star is forced to take a major wage cut and will agree on a minimum wage contract to revive his stalled career.

It’s a massive drop in wages for Cartwright, who was an incredible talent at Penrith before being lured to the Gold Coast with a big cash deal valued at around $ 500,000 per season.

The 25-year-old has made 20 attempts in 112 games for the Panthers and Titans since his debut in 2014.

However, Cartwright managed to make only one attempt out of seven games for the Titans in 2020 before splitting from the club for family reasons to return to Sydney.

Cartwright is still young to a rugby league career but has been plagued by chronic knee injuries that have caused his shape to be inconsistent on the glitter streak.

Cartright scored just four tries for the Titans in 43 games before fearing his vaccination stance would ban him from the entire 2020 coronavirus-hit season.

“If I were a club I would be very careful,” Johns told Wide World of Sports in September.

“It’s up to Bryce. The problem with Bryce is that he’s got so much talent.

“Everyone can see how much talent they have. You are looking at the history of rugby league in the professional era for the past 20 years. Some players have so much talent that they just aren’t on duty because they don’t have to work that hard.

“You come out on the field and can do things that take your breath away, but you don’t have the tough advantage of working hard and working hard.”
