And Evans vs. Ugo Humbert preview
After a narrow win over the third seed Karen Khachanov in the Antwerp quarter-finals, Dan Evans will try to continue his great form last weekend.
The British player has defeated Salvatore Caruso, Frances Tiafoe and Khachanov in the previous competition. The game against Khachanov was particularly tense as Evans dropped the first set 6-3.
The second set went to a tiebreaker, in which the Briton who was not seeded prevailed 9: 7. Evans sealed the deal with a 6-4 win in the playoff and sent the Russians out of the tournament.
Evans would have been particularly happy with his serve against Khachanov in the quarter-finals. The Birmingham native had a great 82% win rate on first serve and only had to set five breakpoints in the game.
Evans will now face France’s rising star Ugo Humbert in the semi-finals.

Humbert had a decent clay swing and reached the quarterfinals in Hamburg in the third round in Rome. The Frenchman didn’t find much joy in St Petersburg last week but his performance so far in Antwerp has been pretty brilliant.
The unset Humbert knocked out the second seed Pablo Carreno Busta in the round of 16. Although the higher-ranking Spaniard won the first set, his 22-year-old rival showed plenty of character to recover and take a three-set win.
Dan Evans head to head against Ugo Humbert
Dan Evans and Ugo Humbert have never played against each other on the ATP tour. Therefore, her head-to-head record is currently 0-0.
Dan Evans vs. Ugo Humbert prediction

Both Dan Evans and Ugo Humbert have so far exceeded expectations at the European Open. The first serve was the greatest strength for each of them on the Antwerp indoor courts. Neither player allowed their opponents too many breakpoints.
Evans has given up serving only five times on his way to the semi-finals. Humbert meanwhile saved a whopping 10 breakpoints against Carreno Busta with a success rate of 76% on the first serve.
World No. 38 from France prefers the newer form. Humbert’s win-loss record this year is much better than Evans’ and he has played at a significantly superior level since the tour resumed in August.
Evans has failed to make it through the first round in his last four tournaments. At the same time, Humbert impressed everyone with a good performance against a number of higher-ranking opponents.
Although Evans has been fantastic at the European Open so far, Humbert has the upper hand over the semi-finals due to his overall greater consistency.
Forecast: Ugo Humbert wins in three sets.
