After Haas cleared the decks for 2021, the “stupid season” at the venue of the Portuguese GP on Sunday has exploded.

It is unlikely that Haas’s Kevin Magnussen and Romain Grosjean will find new places for the next year. Instead, the small American team is supposed to set up an all-rookie cast of Nikita Mazepin alongside Mick Schumacher.

Elsewhere, however, an explosion of musical chairs could be imminent.

This despite the fact that, contrary to speculation, Alfa Romeo will keep both Kimi Raikkonen and Antonio Giovinazzi – although it was widely rumored that the latter Italian would leave the team.

“Antonio has more friends at Ferrari than you think,” Auto Bild quotes an insider.

Sebastian Vettel arrives at Racing Point (next year Aston Martin), who brought the heavily Mexican-backed Sergio Perez onto the market.

Perez appears ready to oust the less strongly supported George Russell at Williams, but the Mexican insisted that his talks with “multiple teams” will remain “secret” for the time being.

Williams’ Russell meanwhile said in Portimao: “I have a contract next year. After the arrival of the new owners, my situation has not changed.

“The new owners are on the track this weekend so I’m sure we’ll sort everything out, but like I said – I have no doubt that I’ll be driving a Williams next year.”

However, Russell admitted, “If the rumors become more real, I will of course contact Mercedes, but at the moment I have nothing to worry about.”

Another rumor is linking a change of French drivers at Renault with Pierre Gasly from Alpha Tauri, who is supposed to replace Esteban Ocon.

“Red Bull will decide where I am next year, but I’m happy at Alpha Tauri,” said Gasly on Thursday.

For his current teammate Daniil Kvyat, Dr. Helmut Marko this week that Yuki Tsunoda will very likely make his Alpha Tauri debut in 2021.

“Let’s just say I haven’t received any new information on the subject,” the Russian Kvyat explained. “I know there aren’t that many free places, but for my part I can only do my best in the remaining races.”
