Clear warning for Feyenoord: ‘Dinamo throws everything on Europe’

Feyenoord must especially watch out against Dinamo Zagreb for the attacking qualities of the opponent from Croatia. That says Matthew Steenvoorden, who lost 3-2 to Zagreb with his club HNK Gorica last weekend.

Steenvoorden himself was not on the field during the match due to a positive corona test, but predicts that his old club Feyenoord will have a hard time. “Dinamo Zagreb is by far the best in the league, they don’t have much opposition”, he says in the Dickvoormekaar Podcast of Football International. “They throw everything on Europe, where they are really tested. Dinamo also has a very wide selection, they can easily buy players for large amounts.”

Especially Mario Gavranovic, the Dinamo Zagreb striker, is an important player. He took the three goals against Gorica and has already scored seven goals this season. “And Bruno Petkovic is also very good, but he scores a bit less. Petkovic is very stable”, Steenvoorden continued. “And then they have two very fast wingers, with Mislav Orsic and Lirim Kastrati. The midfield is also very strong, with Lovro Majer who can play well between the lines. So Dinamo’s strength lies mainly in the attack.”

Steenvoorden is curious how Feyenoord will hold its own against Dinamo, but does not dare to make any statements about it. “I am also very curious about the difference in level. Maybe Feyenoord will easily win tonight. But Feyenoord can be very good one week, and less the next. I let myself be surprised.”
