Vasyl Lomachenko and Teofimo Lopez will be there in Las Vegas this weekend.

The pair will take on the WBA (Super), WBO and IBF lightweight titles and it will be one of the biggest fights the boxing world will see in 2020, a year marked by the coronavirus.

Vasyl Lomachenko and Teofimo Lopez are ready to go to war

Lomachenko, a 14-1 three weight world champion, is one of the most respected and admired fighters in boxing.

He will be taken over by Lopez, the 23-year-old from Brooklyn who wants to improve his IBF title and win 16-0.

As young as he is, he is certainly more than just an exciting prospect considering what he has achieved so far.

Below is a mix of current fighters, world champions, hall of famers, and coaches giving their opinion on who they think will win.

Lopez believes he will only be the second man to beat Lomachenko in the pro ranks

Shawn Porter – former two-time welterweight champion

I think this fight is a little premature for Lopez, but we’ve seen it all in this sport. It’s a fight I’d love to see if Teofimo wins, but I don’t know if he can. I don’t think he can. I’ll go ahead and say, I think Lomachenko wins the fight, but if things go very differently I’ll jump up and down and trust myself.

Of the four guys – Devin Haney, Ryan Garcia, Shakur Stevenson, and Teo – I think Teo is just a little bit ahead of Shakur Stevenson. I think Devin falls in third place and Ryan is fourth in the backend.

I think if any of these guys had a chance to beat Lomachenko it would be Teo.

Jorge Linares – former world champion with three weights who lost to Lomachenko in 2018

It is a very dangerous fight for Lomachenko because Lopez has power. He’s a very difficult guy with a difficult style. But come on. Lopez is not as fast as me. He’s not as fast as me. I don’t think he has [points to his head] to.

He’s a hungry guy who wants to kill him – that’s it. So it’s a dangerous fight, but more difficult for Lopez. Lomacehnko is a very, very smart guy. It’s very fast, very difficult.

But Lomachenko hasn’t been the same since the fight with me. It’s different – he hasn’t done a great job since.

Amir Khan – former welterweight world champion

Like you beat Lomachenko … look, he’s a very patient fighter. He likes to wait, he likes to measure you, he makes you miss and he hits you. The way you hit someone like this is you hit them in their own game.

And he reminds me of the old typical Ukrainian amateur fighters, how they used to fight. The Cubans too. They will wait, make you miss you, and then come up to you with a great shot that will hurt you, maybe one or two.

The way you fight him, the thrust is key in this fight. The speed and holding of the fight at long range, keeping the range because you don’t want to get too close to it. Loma can throw combinations in its pocket quite well.

Freddie Roach – legendary boxing trainer who most famously worked with Manny Pacquiao

Lomachenko wins. Strokes are really good when they land, but when you have someone as defensive and elusive as Lomachenko, it’s hard to do. Lopez does have a puncher chance, yes, but that is the case in a lot of fights.

Terence Crawford – Former three-weight world champion and current WBO welterweight king

Yes, Lopez is ready for this fight and I’ve said it long ago. I don’t know if he’s going to win, but he’s ready. Who will win? I could learn a little more about Lomachenko if he has the experience and has been here before, but at the same time you can’t count Teofimo.

Lopez aims to take Lomachenko's place as WBA, WBC 'Franchise' and WBO lightweight champion

He’s a great young fighter who has a lot of talent, a lot of punch, who believes in himself and is not a sucker. He comes to fight and turn you off every time.

Oscar De La Hoya – eleven-time world champion in six weight classes who is now running Golden Boy Promotions

I love this fight. Lopez is a breath of fresh air for the division. It’s exciting, it’s explosive, it’s open, and you need those kind of good guys versus bad guys in the divisions.

Ryan Garcia, he’s a good guy. He’s a beast, but a good guy. Lopez is the bad guy and you need such rivalries.

I think Lomachenko is a great boxer, a great fighter. But Linares exposed him a bit. Just a little, not too much, but enough for the fighters to feel confident about going up against Loma.

Teofimo has this confidence, this confidence that he can beat him and guess what? He probably can!

Andre Ward – multiple world champion in two weight classes, retired with a perfect 32-0 record

Well, his father wanted the fight. He’s backed up his popups, but that’s a big check to write.

The thing about trying to copy the Mayweather style is a generational thing. Floyd Snr and Roger fought so, that’s what Floyd made of the crib. He didn’t watch anyone fight like that, he was taught this way.

Lopez comes out very differently than Floyd in the first round and is hit with his right hands. That’s why I’m not a fan of Teofimo rushing to this fight.

Eddie Hearn – Influential Combat Promoter and Head of Matchroom Boxing

Great fight. Lopez had brilliant conversations. My tip is that Vasyl Lomachenko wins every round. I think so.

Ryan Garcia – light child prodigy ranked 6th in the world

I think I’ll give Lomachenko the edge. I’ll say it now, Lomachenko isn’t the most talented. I’m not impressed by its speed. I was not impressed by his clout in sparring.

He was better than me when we argued, of course, I was only 19 years old. Lopez isn’t a crazy talent either. He’s a bit more naturally gifted than Lomachenko, but Lomachenko puts too much of his wits and IQ into boxing.

That IQ will f *** Teo. I really don’t say who wins, but if you ask my opinion, I think Lomachenko wins.
