Heat is preparing to go all-in in pursuit of Giannis Antetokounmpo...

After two wins after an NBA title in 2020, the Heat are keen to improve their roster significantly. According to The Athletic’s Shams Charania, Miami is preparing to go “all-in” for the pursuit of MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo in the free agency in 2021. Antetokounmpo has one year left on his current contract with the Bucks, and he’s eligible to sign a five-year extension with Milwaukee this off-season.

Miami’s desire to maintain financial flexibility so that they have the funds to pursue Antetokounmpo over the next year could even result in them waiting to offer maximum rookie expansion to the all-star center Bam Adebayo. From Charania:

Rival teams are monitoring Adebayo’s expansion situation and the aftermath if Miami bypasses their great superstar man’s expansion. Miami is preparing to pursue two-time Milwaukee freelance agency Giannis Antetokounmpo in 2021. There is a school of thought that has as much room as possible in terms of salary while waiting for Adebayo’s extension for 2021.

If Antetokounmpo signs an extension with the dollars, the heat’s hopes will end there. For what it’s worth, the bucks are confident that he will actually sign it. If he doesn’t, however, things will get extremely interesting and the heat will be far from being the only franchise fishing tackle that will bring the star forward. The Heat defeated Antetokounmpo and The Bucks in five games in the semifinals of the Eastern Conference last season. After their campaign ended disappointingly for the second year in a row, it’s difficult to say exactly how Giannis feels about his current franchise. Maybe he’d like to wait and see how Milwaukee’s front office can arm the team around him and how they can get back on their feet next season before making a long-term commitment to the Bucks.

Speaking of his upcoming freelance agency ahead of the 2019-20 season, Giannis said the decision would be a lot tougher if the dollars were underfilled.

“I want the bucks to build a successful culture,” said Antetokounmpo. “So far we have done great things and if it stays that way, there will be no other place I want to be. However, if we underperform in the NBA next year, it will be a lot harder to decide if we want to sign. ”

The Bucks are the only team Antetokounmpo has ever played for, and he had previously expressed a desire to stay in the franchise throughout his career – as long as both sides are focused on winning the title.

“The ultimate goal is to win a championship,” said Antetokounmpo in the last off-season. “As long as we’re all on the same page and all focused on that goal, why not play for the dollars for 20 years? Why not play for 25 years? Why not be a member of the coaching staff after playing or But we have to have the same goal. We must have the same principles. We have to focus on winning a championship.

“I want to be part of a winning team. As long as we have the same attitude and approach to the game there is no reason for me to move and not be like Steph [Curry]Don’t be like Dirk [Nowitzki] or Kobe [Bryant] or Tim Duncan. ”

At least Giannis will play another season in Milwaukee as the Bucks are unlikely to trade him until his current contract expires, and Antetokounmpo said he will not ask for a trade. The renewal offer is coming and it’s up to Antetokounmpo to decide whether to sign it or delay the decision. If he decides to wait, it will be a long, stressful year in Milwaukee.
