After a bleak international hiatus, the Premier League is back!

All 20 top teams are in action this weekend, which promises another exciting round of national games.

Michael Owen, the former Liverpool, Manchester United, Real Madrid and Newcastle United striker, has made his latest predictions ahead of the games.

Defending champions Liverpool face bitter local rivals and early Premier League leaders Everton at Goodison Park in the weekend’s game selection.

Former Liverpool Owen relies on his old team and wins 2-1.

“This is the most anticipated Merseyside derby in many years,” Owen told Bet Victor.

“Who on both sides would have predicted that it would be so? Everton coming into play with a 100% record?

‘They got off to a good start while Liverpool had two weeks to lick their wounds after losing 7-2 to Aston Villa.

‘Will we see a reaction? I think so. This could be a classic and I’ll take the reds to improve it in a close match. ‚

In the other headline of the weekend, Manchester City host Arsenal at Etihad and Owen backed Pep Guardiola’s side for three points.

“Sunday’s glamor game is at Etihad,” said Owen. ‘Arsenal makes the visit to Manchester with its tail held high. It’s been a pretty solid start from the Gunners and they’ll go here with high hopes of taking something.

“The city just has to pick up, and back on home soil I can see Pep gathering his troops to get the points.”

Frank Lampard’s Chelsea welcomes Southampton to Stamford Bridge – a match Owen expects 3-1.

“Chelsea is starting to click,” said Owen. ‘Their 4-0 win over Crystal Palace two weeks ago was their best performance of the season so far and I’m a little bit afraid for Southampton.

Michael Owens Premier League predictions

Everton 1-2 Liverpool
Chelsea 3-1 Southampton
Leicester 2-2 Aston Villa
Newcastle 1-1 Man Utd
Sheff Utd 1: 0 Fulham
West Brom 0-1 Burnley
Man City 3-1 Arsenal
Kristallpalast 1-1 Brighton
Tracks 1 – 1 West Ham
Leeds 2-1 Wolves

“I expect the Blues to have too much firepower, and despite ongoing concerns about their backline, I want them to take the points.”

Two of Owen’s former clubs will compete against each other on Saturday night. Manchester United travels to Newcastle.

“Newcastle will be more than happy with the start of their campaign,” added Owen.

‘A 3-1 home win over Burnley was solid enough and I think the Magpies will be calm about their chances here.

‘United gets into disarray. The result against Tottenham is not going to be forgotten anytime soon and I think it may be a few more weeks for United to regain a foothold. I will play a draw. ‚

In the other games of the round, Owen beats Leeds to beat Wolves and Sheffield United and Burnley, and to take three points from Fulham and West Broom.

He has drawn in clashes between Spurs and West Ham, Aston Villa and Leicester and Crystal Palace against Brighton.
