FIFA 21 Players take advantage of the game’s unbalanced reward system by throwing matches to target lower ranks. The game, like many of EA’s annual sports franchises, has experienced some setbacks since its release. In a shocking display of blatant greed with little effort, EA admitted that the Switch version of the new sports game was essentially the same as the previous one, forcing fans to pay full price for an almost non-existent upgrade.

Unfortunately, this is nowhere near the only problem one has encountered FIFA 21. When the game hit early access, so many people tried to download the ten-hour demo that EA Play crashed, forcing EA to struggle through alternative means of distributing the game. While the game itself is solid and makes some decent improvements over last year’s entry (assuming you’re not playing on Switch), it doesn’t change much in the end, following an unfortunate trend that has affected many of EA’s sports franchises. Madden NFL 21 is so guilty that fans tore the game apart and even demanded that the NFL EA drop it over it.

Well that FIFA 21 is out, it faces a whole new problem. In a curious case of art that imitates life, Eurogamer reports on it FIFA 21 Players willfully lose games and move down to the lower ranks in Division Rivals, the game’s competitive multiplayer mode. Thanks to two unfortunate compensation decisions by the developers, the players avoid the top positions like the plague. The first is the reward. Player Dincht04 compares the rewards for landing in the top tier of Division 4 with landing in second tier in Division 1. Although Division 1 is higher, the rewards for a higher rank in a lower division are arguably better. One option gives the player 65,000 coins, while an option in Division 1 Rank 4 only rewards 55,000. This inferiority is exacerbated by the second problem. FIFA 21 has set a limit of 30 games for weekly points contributions for Division Rivals. The top spot is next to impossible to get at this time, and with Rank 2 being so unattractive, there’s no reason to get past Division 4.

It’s depressing to see how unbalanced the game’s multiplayer mode is, as the 30 game cap isn’t a bad thing in and of itself. It prevents players who don’t have time to get involved in the game from being blown away by dedicated fans. However, when combined with the high skill limit required to reach Rank 1, the game cap is very difficult to navigate. Fortunately, at least one of these problems has an easy solution. Division 1 rewards clearly require a significant buff.

Despite EA’s constant problems, the company has created a soccer game that people love to play. There’s a lot to like FIFA 21, like its realistic facial scans of real athletes. This unbalanced multiplayer experience is an unfortunate roadblock preventing fans from enjoying their soccer sim to the fullest. Hopefully EA will improve and render it soon FIFA 21 The game fans want it.
