SANTIAGO, October 13 (Reuters). Colombian Radamel Falcao came off the bench in a 2-2 draw against Chile in the World Cup qualifying in Santiago on Tuesday.

Jefferson Lerma gave Colombia the lead on seven minutes when he took advantage of the poor mark to steal from the far post and take a deep cross home from the right.

An Arturo Vidal penalty after 38 minutes and an opportunistic goal from Alexis Sanchez three minutes before half-time put Chile in the driver’s seat.

But Falcao was on hand in a packed penalty area to take a Johan Mojica shot into the net and give Colombia a deserved share of the points.

Chile, who conceded a late goal against Uruguay to lose their opener 2-1, are one point ahead of only Venezuela and Bolivia in the South American group of 10 teams alongside Peru.

The next round of games will take place from November 12th to 17th. Chile is at home in Peru and then abroad in Venezuela. Colombia receives Uruguay and then travels to Ecuador. (Reporting by Andrew Downie in London; Editing by Peter Rutherford)
