The Egyptian international Mohamed Elneny has vowed to improve “in everything” to cement his place in Mikel Artetas Gunners.
The 28-year-old appeared to be on his way out of the Emirates Stadium after being on loan with Besiktas last season. However, he seems to be one of the Spanish manager’s reliable employees.
In the current 2020/21 season he started three of Arsenal’s four games while also playing a role in the team’s loss to Liverpool in the English League Cup.
Speaking in a recent interview with the club’s website, Elneny explained why his form fell under Unai Emery and how he regained his trust under Arteta despite initial fears.
“Before I came to London, I didn’t speak to him and was a little … not stressed, just thinking about what he wanted,” he said.
“When I sat with him, I said, ‘The way you train, the way you want to play is the way I like to play,’ and I love the way we train, like him now and in the club everything supports it makes me excited to give 100 percent for the team.
“I haven’t played a lot with Emery, so you can lose your confidence and feel. That’s why when I went to Besiktas on a year-long loan I kept playing and bringing back confidence and when I got back here I saw everyone happy that I came back. “
“Everyone was excited to see me again, and when I was working out, everyone gave me good feedback and said ‘Mo, you did well,’ and that gives you confidence back,” he continued.
“I’m going to build and build it and every day I try to learn new things. Yes [I feel wanted]every day all the time.
“I think in any job, when you wake up in the morning trying to learn new things and improve every day … that’s what I always think about when I wake up. I have to go to training, I have to improve in everything. “
After the international window, Arsenal travel to the Etihad Stadium to meet with Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City. North London are fourth on nine points.
