The Royal Moroccan Football Federation have officially disclosed that a COVID-19 case has been found among the senior national team squad after a round of testing.

Morocco’s national team are set to play two friendly matches during October’s international break in preparation for the AFCON qualifiers next month.

The squad saw the inclusion of Sevilla trio and UEFA Europa League champions Munir El Haddadi, Yassine Bounou, and Youssef En-Nesyri. Additionally, Zamalek hitman Achraf Bencharki was also included in the squad.

The Moroccan federation announced that after a collective testing for COVID-19, Villarreal forward Sofian Chakla’s result was found positive.

The player will follow the prescribed medical protocol and will be put in quarantine, per the federation’s statement.

The Atlas Lions will play 2019 AFCON finalists, Senegal, on October 9th before hosting DR Congo four days later.
