Egyptian Premier League side Al Masry have threatened to withdraw from their game against Ismaily as they don’t have a full squad due to COVID-19 cases, confirmed the club’s vice chairman.

Al Masry had revealed that they discovered 16 new coronavirus cases within their squad just days after facing Zamalek in the league opener.

Their game against Haras El-Hodood was postponed, however the Egyptian FA (EFA) have refused to postpone their encounter against Ismaily.

This shocked the club’s vice chairman, Mohamed El-Khouly, who believes that this is an unjust decision by Egypt’s football governing body.

“We won’t go to the stadium to face Ismaily, we don’t have 11 players and no substitutes,” El-Khouly told OnTime Sports TV.

“What’s happening to us is very unfair, I hope that one EFA representative comes out and tells us that our decision is wrong, while explaining what should we do.

“We asked for the game to be postponed and for now we’re waiting for their response. We don’t even have a full squad to play the game,” he added.

The game is set to take place on Friday August 14th at 6:30pm local time and it is still unclear how will the EFA resolve this issue.

Al Masry currently sit 10th on the league table with 20 points with one game in hand.
