Egypt international, Mohamed Elneny, has missed two training sessions at Besiktas before their game against Kayserispor according to several Turkish reports.

Elneny’s relationship with the Besiktas board has been shaky for the past weeks, as the club have reportedly failed to pay his wages since last October.

It was also reported that Elneny was owed a total of €1.3 million but Besiktas are unable to pay this amount due to the current financial circumstances caused by the outbreak of COVID-19.

And despite having reportedly reached an agreement that would keep Elneny until the end of season and that he recently received an initial €600 000, it appears that there are still some remaining issues between both parties.

According to Turkish news outlet Asist Analiz, the former Basel man failed to appear in two of Besiktas’ training sessions before their 3-1 loss to Kayserispor.

The 27-year-old was part of the starting 11 and played for the full 90 minutes but had one of his worst performances since joining the Black and Whites.

Elneny joined Besiktas on a year loan from Arsenal last summer and provided three assists in 32 appearances across all competitions for the Black Eagles this season, becoming a vital player in their squad.

Besiktas currently sit fifth on the Turkish Super League table with 50 points, four away from the top three. They will host eleventh-placed Kasimpasa in their next game on July 9th.
