Massachusetts District Court Judge Nathaniel Gorton has dismissed a lawsuit against a former senior Saudi intelligence official brought by a Saudi state-owned company.
In dismissing the case, the judge said, “The court is not convinced” that it can rule in favor of Saudi Arabia’s SCAB Holding without including materials that the US government considers a state secret.
He added that SCAB’s case also had no basis in federal or Massachusetts law.
The court declared that an intervention rarely used by the US government prevented the case from being pursued.
The decision is a disappointment for the queen in a legal battle with Saad al-Jabri, a former senior intelligence officer who once cooperated closely with US counter-terrorism efforts.
