The Chairman of the Saudi Business Group in the G20 (G20) Youssef bin Abdullah Al-Bunyan confirmed that the group paid great attention to having a distinctive imprint in charting the way for decisions and recommendations that ensure the effective participation of the Saudi business community during the presidency of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for the year 2020, as well as in the current presidency of Italy. And in the upcoming presidencies in Indonesia and beyond by participating as members and vice-presidents of Italian groups.
In a statement to the Saudi Press Agency on the occasion of the Kingdom’s participation in the G20 Leaders Summit that will be held in Italy, he explained that the efforts of the Saudi Business Group were based on the care, attention and wise directions of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and His Highness the Crown Prince – may God preserve them.
Al-Benyan said: “The Italian business group continued to adopt the priorities set by the Saudi Business Group of Twenty during the Kingdom’s presidency of the G20, which confirms the success of the Saudi presidency, which includes: trade, finance, digitalization, work, climate change, compliance and increased participation of women, with consideration of many Factors, including alignment with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, ensuring increased participation of women in the global economy, and establishing a thriving micro, small and medium enterprise environment.
And he indicated that the leadership of the Saudi business group in 2020 in the field of empowering women’s participation through the launch of the Businesswomen Council, which worked on developing a road map to enhance the role of women in a number of fields, and that their participation be vital in the business sector, which inspired the Italian business group to create an initiative Especially to empower women during her presidency for the year 2021 AD.
Al-Bunyan added, “We were keen on the participation and cooperation of the leaders and the Saudi business team with the business team during Italy’s presidency of the G20, in order to convey policies and recommendations in order to ensure their sustainability, and to ensure that the Kingdom’s influence remains in a sustainable manner during the upcoming G20 presidencies.”
It is worth noting that during the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s presidency of the G20, the Saudi Business Group reached out to the business community and formed six task forces to achieve its priorities: digitization, energy, sustainability and climate, finance and infrastructure, the future of work and education, integrity and compliance, and trade and investment.
