Two institutes of music in Saudi Arabia obtained their statutory license from the Ministry of Culture a year after the decision to establish a music academy, and the presence of a government body for the same issue.
The Saudi Minister of Culture, Prince Badr bin Abdullah bin Farhan, announced the licensing of the first two music institutes in the Kingdom, through a post on Twitter: “The issuance of the first license for two music institutes in the Kingdom”. The Saudi Minister of Culture called on the private sector to submit licensing applications, writing: “I invite all those interested in the private and non-profit sectors to submit applications for licenses for institutes in various cultural fields, on a specialized platform that will start its work after 90 days.”
The Ministry of Culture, through the Music Authority, seeks to regulate and develop the music sector in Saudi Arabia, support and encourage practitioners in it, and it will also work with the competent authorities to support the protection of intellectual property rights in areas related to music, in addition to holding training courses, adopting relevant professional programs, and encouraging activists in The domain is involved in the production and development of music content.
While the ministry announced at the end of August of last year, the establishment of two academies, one for arts and the other for music, as the Academy of Arts was launched, starting with two academies in the first phase; One specializes in heritage, traditional arts and crafts, and began receiving applications for admission in the fall of 2020. It is targeting 1,000 students and trainees in long and short-term programs, while the Academy of Music will receive 1,000 students and trainees, starting in 2021.
Under the two licenses, the “International Music Training Center” and the “Musical House Training Institute” obtained two licenses for the activity of musical training, which are specialized institutes that provide training and development of talent in the musical field.
The issuance of the two licenses comes according to a statement by “Culture” within the experimental launch of the project to establish training institutes specialized in the fields of culture and arts, which the Ministry of Culture is working on in cooperation with the General Organization for Technical and Vocational Training and the Education and Training Evaluation Authority, to enable and support Saudi talents and develop cultural and artistic capabilities, in addition to Developing the artistic industry by creating educational and training opportunities in various creative disciplines.
The online platform will allow individuals that Prince Badr announced the launch within 90 days, various licenses covering various artistic and cultural fields, including theater, music, literature, publishing, translation and museums, and it enables those interested in the theater field to obtain a performing arts training license, and on the musical side three licenses, for the practitioner of playing music.
