At the international level, and with a view to a global confrontation that mitigates the effects of the pandemic, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, which chairs the current session of the G20, called for a virtual extraordinary summit that took place on March 26.

Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud presided over the work of the first virtual extraordinary summit in Riyadh for the leaders of the twenty most powerful economic countries in the world, to confront the repercussions of the spread of the Corona virus.

During the summit, the G20 countries pledged more than $ 21 billion to fill the financing gap in the global health system, with the aim of supporting the production and distribution of vaccines, diagnostic and treatment tools needed to combat the pandemic, as well as the group’s countries pumping more than $ 11 trillion into a stimulus package to support the global economy.

On Saturday and Sunday, another summit will be held, chaired by the Kingdom as well, to review and discuss policies and initiatives that will address the consequences of the pandemic, in a way that contributes to promoting development and stimulating global cooperation to create a better future for people.

It is noteworthy that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia will assume the presidency of the G20 this year 2020, which will conclude by hosting the G20 leaders’ summit presided by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and will be held over two days from 21 to 22 November.

The G20 is the main forum for international economic cooperation and includes leaders from all continents, representing developed and developing countries. The G20 member states collectively represent about 80% of global economic output, two-thirds of the world’s population, and three-quarters of global trade volume.

He added, “We are more optimistic that the pace of growth will accelerate with the end of the pandemic and the return of things to normalcy, so that we will be one of the fastest growing G20 countries in non-oil GDP in the coming years.”

Foreign policy … Continuous leadership

In terms of foreign policy, the new Corona virus pandemic has not prevented Saudi Arabia from playing its pioneering role in supporting its brothers, so it continued its support to solve the crisis in Yemen by hosting the donors conference and accelerating the implementation mechanism of the Riyadh Agreement, and it also hosted the Friends of Sudan Conference.

As usual, Saudi Arabia fulfilled its promises to hold the donors conference for Yemen on a “virtual” date, to overcome the travel ban restrictions and the precautionary measures of countries to combat the Corona virus, with the participation of the United Nations.

The conference, which was held on June 2, was attended by more than 126 parties, including 66 countries, 15 international organizations, 3 intergovernmental organizations and more than 39 non-governmental organizations, in addition to the Islamic Development Bank, the International Committee of the Red Cross and the International Federation of Red Cross and Crescent Societies. the Red.

And it came under the directives of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and Prince Muhammad bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, the Saudi Crown Prince.

And the United Nations announced that the Yemen donors’ conference held in Saudi Arabia succeeded in raising $ 1.35 billion in humanitarian aid, as part of the 2020 response plan.

The United Nations had estimated Yemen’s needs at 2.4 billion dollars to support basic needs, in addition to 180 million dollars urgently to combat the spread of the new Corona virus.

Saudi Arabia topped the list of donors with $ 500 million, in addition to its announcement of providing other aid for programs to combat the Corona virus.

On July 29, the Kingdom presented to the Yemeni government and the Southern Transitional Council a mechanism to accelerate work in implementing the Riyadh Agreement, including: A ceasefire that began in June continues.

On August 12, Saudi Arabia hosted the eighth meeting of the Friends of Sudan, with the aim of providing more support for peace and economic support.

The Sudan Friends Forum was established in 2018 as an informal group to coordinate political and economic support for Sudan.

Sudan seeks, through partnership conferences with friendly Arab and Western countries, to provide financial support, to attract capital and large companies to invest in the country, and to revive its economy, whose productive sectors are witnessing a terrible decline.

He also affirmed support for efforts aimed at bringing peace to the Middle East through negotiations between the Palestinian and Israeli parties to reach a just and lasting agreement.

King Salman affirmed that his country stands with Iraq and its brotherly people, and supports the efforts of his government for its stability and development, preserving its position in its Arab environment, and strengthening relations between the two brotherly countries and cooperation in various fields through the Saudi-Iraqi Coordination Council.

With regard to the Syrian crisis, the Saudi monarch said: “We support a peaceful solution in Syria in accordance with Security Council Resolution 2254 and the Geneva 1 track, and the necessity for militias and mercenaries to leave them and preserve the unity of Syrian soil.”

King Salman called for stopping external interference in the Libyan affairs.

He also stressed the importance of supporting Sudan now, and affirmed its full political support for the Juba peace talks.
