It also performs the Kingdom’s commitment to the climate agreement and the challenges of climate change, by adopting new concepts that lead the world towards more sustainable energy sources and more preserving the global ecosystem.

Within its chairmanship of the G20 G20 this year, Saudi Arabia presented its “circular carbon economy” initiative, which aims to create a new energy system, by improving the current global carbon-based energy system, and converting it into a circular and hybrid system from non-carbon sources as follows:

Reducing carbon emissions by enhancing the environmental quality of oil. As Saudi Arabia is the country with the least CO2 production in the world, for every barrel it produces 10 kg / b. Saudi Arabia has also invented an advanced technology to prevent smoke from burning gas burners in factories, with a technology invented by Saudi engineers that will serve the Saudi industrial sector and the world, and established the Saudi Energy Efficiency Center, which has so far succeeded in reducing carbon emissions to more than 10% of the total energy consumption in the Kingdom.

Reusing carbon materials and oil in a more efficient way, and enhancing oil applications that do not include burning it as a fuel, such as converting it into chemicals and other materials, which makes it much less emitting carbon gases.

Carbon capture and recycling. Saudi Arabia has developed its capacity to capture carbon gases by about two million tons annually, with this capacity reaching 5 million tons annually in 2030. The Kingdom also used this technology in the production of the world’s first shipment of blue ammonia, which the Kingdom exported as one of the new energy solutions.

Removal of carbon emissions

Although the Kingdom is the world’s least energy-emitting country of 1.5%, one of the most important goals of Saudi Vision 2030 is to raise the efficiency of the environment and increase the area of ​​green areas and coral reefs, through dozens of major projects and hundreds of environmental initiatives, which will help reduce the proportion of the second Residual carbon dioxide.

In fact, the world cannot do without carbon in any way, as it is one of the most important sources of energy and a safe source for many life materials, which we use daily, from clothes and shoes, to storage materials, paint, asphalt, house roofs and air conditioner casings, components of modern cars and airplanes, etc. .

The goal of the Paris Climate Agreement is to achieve zero growth in carbon emissions and prevent global warming, and the Kingdom shares with the world its belief in the importance of this goal, but not in the way that the world turns from carbon energy sources that are more than a hundred years old to zero Carbon overnight! That is why the Kingdom’s initiative was wiser and more prudent, taking into account the growing and expected demand for carbon energy sources by 2050, as the world population will reach 9.5 billion people, all of whom will need carbon sources in their daily applications.

That is why the Kingdom offers the world a new energy system, based on the concept of a mixture between carbon energy and renewable energy, with careful management of carbon emissions and their recycling, in an economy that helps provide better opportunities for innovation in the field of carbon materials, to reduce carbon consumption on the one hand and to produce clean chemical fuels from Oil, such as hydrogen and ammonia, as well as materials produced in refineries have a lower environmental impact.
