JEDDAH — Saudi Arabia and its Gulf allies have strongly condemned the extremist attacks that took place in Austria’s Vienna on Monday, leaving four dead and a dozen injured.

In a statement, the Saudi foreign ministry affirmed the Kingdom's solidarity with Austria, pledging its support to Vienna in taking all necessary measures to maintain its security and protect itself from extremism and violence in all its forms.

Bahrain’s foreign ministry expressed its sincere condolences to the families of the victims, wishing a speedy recovery to all those injured from this heinous terrorist act.

In a statement, the ministry said: “Bahrain affirms its support to Austria in its efforts to combat terrorism, noting the importance of the concreted efforts of the international community in order to eliminate terrorism and violence, fight extremist organizations and dry up their sources of funding.”

The United Arab Emirates also strongly condemned the terrorist attack in the Austrian capital.

In a statement, UAE’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation affirmed that the UAE expresses its strong condemnation of these criminal acts and its permanent rejection of all forms of violence and terrorism aimed at destabilizing security and stability in contravention of religious and humanitarian values and principles.

The UAE ministry extended its heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims of this heinous crime, wishing a quick recovery to those injured.

Kuwaiti foreign ministry in a statement said that Kuwait stands in solidarity with Austria against these heinous acts, and affirms that terrorism in all forms must be eradicated, it added.

Oman’s foreign ministry also issued a statement condemning the attack.

"The Ministry of Foreign expresses the condemnation and denunciation of the Sultanate of Oman of the sinful terrorist act that took place in the center of Austrian capital Vienna. The Sultanate expresses its sincere condolences and sympathy to the families of the victims," the statement read.

Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Secretary General Dr. Nayef Al-Hajraf expressed his sincere condolences to the families of the victims and the people of Austria, wishing the injured a speedy recovery.

Dr. Al-Hajraf reiterated the firm positions of the GCC toward extremism and terrorism and the council’s rejection of terrorism in all its forms, whatever the causes, motivations and sources, calling for drying up the sources of its support and finance.

The General Secretariat of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) offered condolences to the families of the victims, the government and people of Austria, wishing a speedy recovery for the injured.

The organization reiterated its firm position in rejecting the phenomenon of radicalism, extremism and terrorism in all its forms, whatever the causes and motivations.
