The Saudi Business Group, the official representative of the G20 business community, concluded the day before yesterday, the Saudi Business Group summit under the slogan “Transformation for Inclusive Growth”, during which it brought together leaders from around the world, sending an urgent call to the G20 to confront the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic.
The Saudi Business Group formally delivered at this summit a set of 25 policy recommendations aimed at reviving the global economy and laying foundations for more robust economies in facing future challenges to the leaders of the G20 represented by it on behalf of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud – may God protect him. His Excellency the Minister of Investment, Engineer Khalid bin Abdulaziz Al-Falih.
The head of the Saudi Business Group, Yousef Al-Bunyan, said: “This year has been an exceptional year unlike the G20 in its history, due to the Corona pandemic, yet the priorities we set before the outbreak of the pandemic, which include trade, finance, digitization, work, climate change and compliance, remain the same Level of importance. “
He added, “The crisis has reinforced the importance of solving these problems through the development of comprehensive policies, with an emphasis on the need for a coordinated international effort that supports the most vulnerable groups, which include micro, small and medium-sized companies and women’s empowerment in addition to the sustainable development goals, and I urge the G20 leaders to adopt these Important recommendations for developing a comprehensive and sustainable legacy agenda for 2020 and beyond.
Over the course of two days, business, government and multilateral institutions leaders addressed a range of issues that include free trade, adopting sustainable practices and providing opportunities for women in business, in order to build a more prosperous future, and among the speakers at the Saudi Business Group Summit was Her Royal Highness Princess Rima Bint Bandar bin Sultan, Ambassador of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques to the United States of America, Director of the International Monetary Fund, Kristalina Georgieva, former British Prime Minister Gordon Brown, CEO of Total Patrick Poyanniye, CEO of Saudi , Amin Al-Nasser, and former CEO of Helliott-Packard (HP) Carly Fiorina, Mastercard CEO Ajay Panga, and Standard Chartered CEO Bill Winters, along with many other prominent business leaders from the G20 countries.
Topics covered in the first day seminars included the following: Keynote speech: “Transformation for inclusive growth in the new world” by Dr. Werner Hoyer, President of the European Investment Bank, and a symposium entitled “The Saudi Business Group Over a Decade: Ten Years of Impact”, with Former Australian Business Group Chairman Richard Goyder, former Argentine Business Group Chairman Daniel Funes de Rioja, Former Russian Business Group Chairman Alexander Schukhin, and Saudi Business Group Chairman Yusef Abdullah Al-Bunyan, in addition to the opening speech of IIF Vice President Marcus Wallenberg. Seminar titled “Re-designing Multilateral Institutions for a New Era” with Indonesian Finance Minister Sri Muliani Indrawati, UNCTAD Secretary Dr. Mukhisa Kituyi, former World Trade Organization Director-General Roberto Azevedo, and IMF Director Kristalina Georgieva, in addition to the speech Editorial from the United Nations Special Envoy for Global Education and former British Prime Minister Gordon Brown.
