Foreign Minister: Saudi Arabia has never failed to respond to calls...

Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah, Minister of Foreign Affairs, affirmed that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia was and still is a mediator for peace to end many international conflicts side by side with the United Nations and its various agencies for the sake of all that is good for humanity.
This came in the speech of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia during the high-level meeting to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the founding of the United Nations, which was delivered virtually by His Highness the Minister of Foreign Affairs.
At the beginning of the speech, His Highness congratulated His Excellency Ambassador Volkan Bozkir on his election as President of the seventy-fifth session of the United Nations General Assembly, extending his thanks to His Excellency Professor Tijani Muhammad Pandey for his efforts during his presidency of the seventy-fourth session of the General Assembly, and to His Excellency the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres, for his distinguished and tireless efforts to achieve Purposes of the United Nations Charter.
His Highness the Minister of Foreign Affairs said: Today we celebrate the seventy-fifth anniversary of the establishment and founding of the United Nations Organization, this organization that was founded on lofty principles and foundations, and was established to achieve security and peace around the world, and its charter affirmed the need for concerted efforts and closer cooperation between countries to advance this world, and to enjoy The peoples of the world have stability, prosperity and peace, and that my country, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, is proud to be a founding member of the United Nations, as it extended its hands to partnership and cooperation since the beginning of the establishment of the organization in 1945, believing in the importance of joint international cooperation, stressing that since then the Kingdom has assumed the responsibility of achieving The purposes of the United Nations Charter is to maintain the security and safety of the peoples of the world.
His Highness Prince Faisal bin Farhan added: Here, my country continues today its tangible efforts under the leadership of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud – may God preserve him – to pursue its auspicious march to achieve stability, prosperity, growth and peace in the region and the world, and it has never hesitated to respond to calls for humanitarian distress around the world. And it has spared no effort in extending a hand of assistance and tender to the afflicted and needy countries, nor has it been relentless in devoting its efforts to pushing the evils looming in the region, to achieve security and peace for neighboring countries so that the region enjoys prosperity and stability, and my country was and still is a mediator of peace to end many international conflicts side by side The United Nations, and its various organs, for the sake of all that is good for humanity.
And His Highness added: Global cooperation and concerted international efforts to achieve security and prosperity have an effective and positive impact on the lives of peoples, and my country, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, has sought to achieve this through constructive participation in United Nations initiatives, starting with participation in setting sustainable development goals, and coordination regarding efforts. Jointly to combat terrorism, and finally what the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has made in cooperation with the United Nations in combating the Corona epidemic (Covid-19) that has swept the world, and addressing its health, social and economic impacts.
His Highness the Minister of Foreign Affairs continued, saying: The Kingdom’s belief in its pioneering and global leadership role, and its sense of the importance of caring for people everywhere, and as the presidency of the G20 for the year 2020, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud called for a virtual summit for the leaders of the G20 countries. The invited countries and international organizations, led by the United Nations, to discuss ways to move forward in coordinating global efforts to combat the Corona pandemic, mitigate its humanitarian, social and economic impacts, and to protect the global economy and enhance international cooperation. This summit followed the Kingdom’s announcement of its donation of 500 million US dollars to cover the financing gap. In the WHO Strategic Preparedness and Response Plan, in realization of the outcomes of the Extraordinary G20 Leaders Summit, in which it was agreed to mobilize the necessary funds for the response programs of international organizations.

He explained that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia participated in its capacity as the presidency of the G20 for this year to lead the International Pledge to Respond to Corona with the European Union and a number of countries, which resulted in the financing gap being fully covered, indicating that the Kingdom called for a meeting of finance ministers and central bank governors of the G20 countries to discuss The consequences of the Corona pandemic on the global economy.
His Highness Prince Faisal bin Farhan indicated that the Kingdom recently chaired the extraordinary meeting of the G20 foreign ministers to coordinate efforts to confront this global challenge, and the meeting stressed the importance of raising the level of preparedness for future crises and ways to coordinate precautionary measures across borders to protect lives, and that this comes from the Kingdom’s belief in the importance of cooperation. To move forward in meeting global challenges and mitigating the effects of crises on the peoples of the whole world.
His Highness added: It is a pleasure to celebrate the long and solid relationship extending across generations that my country has maintained with the United Nations for three quarters of a century. The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has worked in partnership with the United Nations to support security, stability and prosperity around the world.
He indicated that this partnership has achieved a coalition of ideas and actions that derives its origins from a common commitment to make the world a better place for all of humanity, yet the world is still suffering from the persistence of many pending crises in many parts of the world, and the Palestinian people are still under occupation, and sectarian cleansing continues. Ethnicity is against Muslims in Myanmar, and many issues remain on the United Nations agenda that have not been solved until today.
At the end of the speech, His Highness the Minister of Foreign Affairs reiterated the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s keenness to move forward with the basic, lofty and noble goals upon which this organization was based, from its keenness to establish security and peace, elevate human dignity, protect the vulnerable peoples of the world, document friendly relations between nations, and concerted efforts. The international community is aimed at improving the lives of peoples and facing global challenges, stressing that the Kingdom’s message is always and forever: peace, and wishing for constructive cooperation to continue as a path between us to build a better world that enjoys stability, prosperity, security and peace.
