RIYADH — Minister of Culture Prince Badr Bin Abdullah Bin Farhan said that the signing of agreements between Saudi investors and owners of coffee farms has opened a new economic window for one of the Kingdom’s original national products.

The minister made the remarks on the occasion of signing of the agreements in the framework of cooperation between the Ministry of Culture and the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture and the Saudi Center for Economic Business.

A ceremony was held for signing agreements between investors from national companies and owners of Saudi coffee farms to enhance cooperation between them in well-known local coffee cultivating regions, including the famous Khawlani coffee farms.

Cultivation of Khawlani coffee beans is considered as a highly respected vocation that gives cultural identity and status to the entire southern region of Jazan.

The agreements aim to strengthen cooperation between Saudi companies and coffee farmers under which companies would purchase coffee crops to ensure the sustainability of production with a focus on improving productivity and adherence to quality specifications in accordance with international standards.

The agreements also underscore the need to give special emphasis to at least three brands bearing the historical legacy of more than 300 years in coffee cultivation in the Kingdom, in addition to improving agricultural practices, developing standards for model farms, and linking them to the logistical supply chain.

The agreements also aim to enhance the competency of coffee beans in the local and international markets so as to contribute to the growth of the Kingdom’s agricultural wealth, and raising the local production rate, in addition to linking producers, coffee farmers and investors on e-commerce platforms, markets and specialized events.
