The Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority “SADAYA” has concluded the activities of “NEOM Challenge”, one of the tracks of the World Summit on Artificial Intelligence, which aims to find pioneering and innovative solutions to face future challenges in the city of dreamers, “NEOM”, with the innovations of students of Saudi universities that depend on artificial intelligence.
400 male and female students of various university levels, from 39 Saudi universities, participated in the challenge, who contributed to strengthening the future city, “NEOM”, with innovations aimed at creating a sustainable environment in three vital areas representing the challenge paths: energy, entertainment and transportation.
The winners of the three tracks in the “NEOM Challenge” during the ceremony of the World Summit on Artificial Intelligence, culminated in prizes worth more than 500 thousand riyals, after judging the entries by a committee consisting of the Ministry of Education, the Saudi Authority for Data and Artificial Intelligence “Sadaya”, and NEOM, where he won the track. Energy has 3 projects, the first of which is “Shams” from the students of King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals, namely: Khaled Al-Muhammad, Al-Walid Al-Faqih, Wael Youssef, and Obadah Al-Zeebq, while students from Jeddah University, namely: Ahmed Al-Barqi, Hammoud Al-Mashouh, and Faisal Sarhan won the award of the “Oil Spill Detection Using artificial intelligence. “
Students from the University of Hail won the award for the project “Managing Renewable Energy Resources Using Weather Forecasting”, which was accomplished by Ayman Al-Shammari, Badr Al-Anazi, Fahad Al-Harbi and Mohammed Al-Shadookhi. The winning projects will contribute to creating the future. It is expected that NEOM will become the largest renewable energy station on Worldwide, through an integrated system to generate renewable energy.
In the entertainment track, students from King Abdullah University of Science and Technology won in the “Artificial Intelligence Sports” project, namely: Abdullah Hamdi, Jesus Zarzar, Juhao Li and Mattia Soldan.
While students from King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals, Khaled Madani, Muhammad Al-Ghamdi, Abdullah Barnawi, Ahmed Al-Sabiani, and Abdullah Al-Salama won the “New Journey” project award, while the “Distant Reality Robot” project won the participating students from King Abdulaziz University, namely: Faris Al-Zahrani, Nawwaf Barboud, Omar Al-Anani and Mustafa Al-Hadi.
In the future, NEOM is expected to be known as the world leader in providing entertainment for all segments of society.
The three winners on the transportation track created a smooth and sustainable system for mobility at the highest levels, which contributes to achieving leadership by innovating integrated solutions.
In the project “Barq: an automated drones system for delivery services based on a decentralized algorithm for the distribution of tasks,” students from Imam Muhammad bin Saud Islamic University won: Al-Reem Al-Muharj, Dalal Al-Aiban, Munira Al-Yahya and Sadeem Al-Khalifa, while students from Princess Noura bint Abdulrahman University participated in The project “Smart Fleet Management” and they are: Noura Al-Faris, Maha Al-Saleem, Raghad Al-Jumah, Sarah Al-Kait and Sarah Al-Omran.
The students of the Islamic University of Madinah’s project prize “Automating the Public Transport System (Infrastructure)” were awarded to the students: Al-Tayeb Karrar, Abdul Rahman Al-Raheili, and Muhammad Al-Amawi.
This challenge comes within the framework of the efforts made by “SADAYA” to unleash the full value of data as a national wealth, and to achieve the aspirations of Vision 2030 and global leadership in the fields of data and artificial intelligence, in addition to its role in raising awareness of artificial intelligence, and promoting and encouraging continuous innovation in the field of artificial intelligence, and building National capabilities that contribute to creating innovative and unique solutions.
