Today, Sunday, King Salman issued an order stipulating the appointment of Hanan bint Abdul Rahim bin Mutlaq Al-Ahmadi as assistant to the speaker of the Shura Council at the excellent rank.

The Shura Council in Saudi Arabia is an advisory body that does not have any real powers. Rather, all that it presents are recommendations pending approval by the Council of Ministers headed by the King of the Kingdom.

The Shura Council includes 150 members, including 30 women, since the era of the previous Saudi monarch, King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz, who ordered at the time that 20% of the seats in this institution be allocated to women.
