The Saudi electronic platform, Shahid.net, removed from its list of contents the series “The Palestinian Westernization”, which narrates the chapters of “the Nakba” in 1948, and then returned it later, under pressure from activists on social networks, justifying the deletion with the expiration of the rights to display, which activists question Tuesday.

A Palestinian page on , calling itself “Hajj Is Not That”, adopted a campaign against the Saudi platform on Monday, and activists quickly interacted with it, in addition to one of the series’ actresses.

And “Shahid.net” affiliated with the Saudi “MBC” channel, and defines itself as “the first Arab platform to provide (video on demand) service in the Middle East,” including a wide range of series and programs.

For the first time, the episodes of the historical series “The Palestinian Westernization” were broadcast in 31 episodes during the month of Ramadan in 2004, directed by Hatem Ali and written by Walid Seif.

In a video posted on social media, the Jordanian actress, Juliette Awad, who embodied the role of “Umm Ahmad” in the series, asked the “Shahid.net” platform: “Why did you delete the Palestinian Westernization series? Palestine with your fear? Right to your fear?”

She added, “By the way, we, the Jordanian people, support the Palestinian cause, we (we) are with the truth (…) We will continue to say: Palestine is a right, Palestine is Arab Palestine, from the water (the sea) to the water (the sea) … We are with the resistance until we return to Palestine. All kinds of resistance. ”

She thanked all the activists who pushed for the series to be returned to the online platform.

And after the success of the campaign, on Monday evening, the “Hajj Is Not That It” page wrote: “We (we were able) to mobilize the largest number of people to defend this (this) sacred cause. ) What was heard in it became heard.

Following the return of the series, “Shahid.net” responded to users’ comments by saying Tuesday: “Please note that the Palestinian Al-Gharibah series has expired the rights to be shown on our Shahid platform, and because we respect our contractual obligations, the series has been automatically and electronically excluded.”

And she continued: “And because we appreciate your comments and interest, we have requested an extension of the broadcast period of the series from the producing company in response to your request.”

But “Hajj is not like that” was not late in responding, so the page questioned the platform’s story, saying: “Within two hours, I asked the producing company to extend the period of broadcasting the series, and they replied to you and brought it back on the platform.”

The series narrates chapters from the lives of Palestinians before, during and after the forced migration in 1948, at the hands of armed Zionist gangs and the declaration of the establishment of the State of Israel on occupied Palestinian lands.

The “Quds News Network” monitored a decline in the platform’s evaluation after the activists’ campaign, explaining that “the evaluation of the application on the Shahid.net page on Facebook decreased from 4.3 to 1.5”.

She added that the platform’s evaluation also dropped on the “Google” and “App Store” stores to 1.2, “forcing the platform to hide the rating icon.”

In a comment on the “Shahid.net” page of “Facebook”, Aseel Afaneh wrote: “What matters to us (it does not matter to us) if you return to the series Al-Gharibah or not, this is (this) content that is better and greater than it is presented on your trivial failed website. .

Last week, the secretary of the Saudi National Security Council, Prince Bandar bin Sultan Al Saud, accused the Palestinian leadership of failing, saying that it was “difficult to trust the Palestinian leadership, after they were denied the favor.”

The Secretary of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization, Saeb Erekat, responded to him by demanding that any Arab country desires normalization with Israel not to offend the Palestinian people and their struggle, and to do so (normalization) on the pretext of seeking their own interests.

Under American sponsorship, the UAE and Bahrain, the two allies closest to Saudi Arabia, signed in Washington in mid-September two agreements to normalize their relations with Israel, despite widespread Arab popular rejection.

Days earlier, a Palestinian draft resolution was dropped in the Arab League, which sought to condemn the normalization agreement between the UAE and Israel, which continues to occupy Arab lands.
