Saudi Arabia revealed, yesterday, a financing program that promotes self-sufficiency in coffee cultivation in the country, as the Agricultural Development Fund confirmed strengthening to support the financing of coffee cultivation, as one of the sectors it finances within the program supporting the sustainable agricultural rural development program in the Kingdom.
According to the fund, the financing aims to increase the percentage of self-sufficiency and replace a percentage of coffee imports, provide job opportunities in production areas and within the manufacturing and marketing chain, increase the income of small producers, and introduce and spread coffee as a cash crop to the crop composition and as a source of diversification of the agricultural production base, a valuable addition from During manufacturing and marketing.
It is noteworthy that the target areas for financing are Al-Baha, Asir, and Jizan, and individual farmers, investors, and cooperative societies can, while the areas of financing include coffee seedlings, drip networks, coffee plants and factories, coffee harvesting, drying and peeling machines, and the rain harvesting program.
The Agricultural Development Fund had an effective contribution to the success of similar programs, as the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz inaugurated the Rural Development Program presented by the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture, in addition to the Fund’s launch of the supporting program, to contribute to financing the “Rural Development Program”. The fund has allocated an amount of 3 billion riyals (800 million dollars) in support of the sustainable rural agricultural development program in coordination with the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture, which includes support for small farmers, breeders, fishermen and livestock breeders in eight promising sectors, including financing coffee cultivation, until 2025.
