Yemen is preparing to open its second border crossing with Saudi...

On Thursday, official Yemeni sources revealed that the government is ready to reopen the Al-Buqa land border crossing with Saudi Arabia in the coming days.

“Al-Mashhad Al-Yemeni” website quoted the sources as saying that “Al-Buqa crossing point in Saada governorate, the border with the Kingdom, will be opened as soon as possible to alleviate the suffering and the long distances traveled by travelers through Al-Wadiah crossing.”

The sources indicated that the port had been completed with all requirements, including high technology, by the Saudi Program for Development and Reconstruction in Yemen during the past few days.

The Saudi program ended, in late September, the rehabilitation project of Al-Buqa Port, with a asphalt of 2.6 km, and the installation of 167 solar-powered lighting poles, in addition to two electric power generators.

The port is of great importance as it is one of the links between Yemen and Saudi Arabia and for the services it will provide to the Yemeni citizen in facilitating the movement of expatriates and expatriates in light of the ongoing war.
