Hind Al Soulia - Riyadh - Saudi Gazette report
TABUK — About 300 children enrolled under the English language program, launched by NEOM Company in cooperation with Prince Fahd Bin Sultan University, began the second phase of the program on Saturday.
The six-week course will be carried out in Al-Khraibeh (to serve the children of Al-Khraibeh, Sharma and Qayyal) and in Al-Bidea governorates (to serve the children of the two regions of Al-Bidea and Maqna) at various levels of English language. At the beginning of the program itself, the level of all the students were determined.
NEOM Company further said the English language courses will be given thrice a week for the next six weeks, bringing the total to 53 training hours by the end of the program.
Students enrolled in the course were chosen from among those who previously registered in the English Language Teaching Initiative on NEOM’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) website last June.
This is with the objective of training students by academic cadres that include trainers from Prince Fahd Bin Sultan University. The English language course, which comprises different stages, will be given through an intensive and developed curriculum, in separate classes for male and female students.
The courses are an extension of the company's efforts to teach English language to the children of the local community in the regions of Neom and Tabuk, where "NEOM" Company announced earlier this month the beginning of registration for the program.
The first edition of the program was launched remotely in cooperation with the Human Resources Development Fund (HADAF) via the Doroob electronic platforms.
This and other initiatives aim to support the sons and daughters of the local community to develop their basic skills and language capabilities and avail of employment opportunities in the NEOM project, as well as the operating companies and their contractors.
The planned NEOM city on the coastline of the Red Sea will extend into neighboring Egypt and Jordan and has received $500 billion in financial support from Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF). It is expected to be an eco-friendly project with state-of-the-art technology.
NEOM is part of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 economic reform plan proposed by Crown Prince Muhammad Bin Salman.
More than one million people from around the world are expected to live and work in the city.
Its land mass will extend across the Egyptian and Jordanian borders, rendering it the first private zone to span three countries.
