RIYADH — Minister of Culture Prince Badr Bin Abdullah Bin Farhan announced on Wednesday that the year 2020 will be the “Arabic Calligraphy Year.” This was in appreciation of the importance accorded to Arabic calligraphy in articulating the richness, history and aesthetics of the Arabic language in its details and forms. The announcement was made in celebration of Arabic calligraphy, coinciding with the celebration of World Arabic Language Day that falls on Dec. 18.

During the Arabic Calligraphy Year 2020, the Ministry of Culture will organize qualitative activities that serve Arabic calligraphy and enhance its presence in society throughout the year, Saudi Press Agency (SPA) said.

The ministry will also motivate government agencies and private institutions to participate in the event and contribute to highlighting the importance of Arabic calligraphy, as well as encouraging individuals and those interested in presenting their talents across various platforms.
