Saudi Arabia will suspend public transport services on Saturday in a measure to control the spread of the coronavirus.

All domestic flights, buses, taxis and train services will close for 14 days, the interior ministry said, after King Salman reassured the Kingdom in a televised address.

"We are living through a difficult period in the history of the world, but we are fully aware that it will pass despite its cruelty, bitterness and difficulty," King Salman said.

Meanwhile, Italy's death toll rose beyond that of China on Thursday, as the pandemic continued to spread.

In the UAE, residents who are abroad will not be allowed to re-enter the country for two weeks, the government said. The Ministry of Health and Prevention reported 27 new cases on Thursday, adding that five more patients have recovered.
