Hind Al Soulia - Riyadh - WASHINGTON — US President Donald Trump’s Board of Peace is set to unveil a six-month, $2.45 billion recovery plan for Gaza on Wednesday, outlining 66 projects aimed at addressing the territory’s immediate post-war reconstruction and governance needs, Axios reported.
The proposal is the result of a year of work involving dozens of officials and experts from the 28-member Board of Peace and the Palestinian technocratic government.
According to a copy of the plan obtained by Axios, projected spending would cover temporary housing, rubble removal, hospital repairs, economic recovery and the deployment of a multinational security force.
“The plan shows how to stand up a government from nothing, an economy from shambles and a territory from disaster,” a Board of Peace official told Axios.
Infrastructure projects account for around $1 billion of the proposed spending, including approximately $400 million for temporary shelters, $275 million for rubble and unexploded ordnance clearance, and $50 million for hospital rehabilitation.
Security-related projects would account for about $885 million, including funding for the International Stabilization Force and Palestinian police. The plan also includes health, education, welfare and private-sector recovery programs.
The proposal estimates physical damage in Gaza at $35.2 billion and says full recovery and reconstruction could require around $71.4 billion over the next decade.
The Board of Peace was formally launched in January as part of Trump’s broader plan for Gaza, with the US president serving as its chairman. UN Security Council Resolution 2803 welcomed the board as a transitional administration responsible for setting the framework and coordinating funding for Gaza’s redevelopment.
The resolution also authorized the establishment of a temporary International Stabilization Force in Gaza and provides for a Palestinian technocratic committee to oversee day-to-day public services during the transitional period.
Funding remains one of the plan’s main challenges, with the Board of Peace and Palestinian technocratic government yet to secure the full $2.45 billion. Board officials said they expect donor countries to contribute once political obstacles to implementation are resolved.
