Hind Al Soulia - Riyadh - TEHRAN — Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said Sunday that Iran is facing a “full-scale economic, military and security war,” as his government seeks to navigate mounting economic pressure and stalled negotiations with the United States.
“We are in a full-scale economic, military and security war,” Pezeshkian said in a televised speech carried by Iran’s state-run IRNA news agency.
The Iranian president acknowledged the economic difficulties facing the country, saying the government was “ashamed” that such problems persisted.
“Trump easily says that they will impose the most crushing or the most terrible sanctions on Iran,” Pezeshkian said, referring to US President Donald Trump.

Pezeshkian also argued that Iran had defied expectations that mounting pressure would destabilize the country.
“The enemy had assessed that if Iran falls, it will become Venezuela. Not only did it not happen, but it became a power that amazed the world with its resistance, solidarity and cohesion,” he said.
The president said his government was working “with all our might to avoid division, conflicts and egos,” emphasizing domestic unity as Iran confronts external and economic pressures.
Iran and the United States signed a memorandum of understanding in June through Pakistani and Qatari mediation, ending active hostilities that began in February and committing both sides to negotiations toward a final agreement.
Those talks have since stalled amid disputes over implementation of the memorandum and arrangements governing navigation through the Strait of Hormuz, a critical route for global oil and gas exports.
