Hind Al Soulia - Riyadh - BEIRUT — The head of Hezbollah's parliamentary bloc, Mohammad Raad, has warned that Israel "has 60 days" to ends its invasion and complete a full withdrawal of troops from Lebanese territory, while calling on Beirut to study the US-Iran memorandum of understanding "carefully and objectively."
Raad's remarks came on Thursday as occupying Israeli forces continued their daily attacks on Lebanon and Tel Aviv insisted it would continue to occupy parts of southern Lebanon, despite the first clause of the US-Iran agreement mandating the "immediate and permanent cessation of military operations on all fronts, including Lebanon".
Raad said “the enemy’s war aimed at crushing the resistance in Lebanon has failed and will not achieve its objectives.”
He also called on Lebanese authorities to “adopt a framework for indirect negotiations with the enemy” to stop the fighting.
"The maximum time available for the enemy to completely withdraw from Lebanese territory is exactly two months," Raad said in a statement.
He said the Israeli military must “fully comply with the cessation of hostilities on land, at sea and in the air, and prepare for and begin withdrawal within 60 days, without any need whatsoever for direct negotiations.”
The United States and Iran signed a memorandum of understanding on Wednesday meant to end the Middle East war on all fronts, including in Lebanon.
The memorandum also commits to "guaranteeing Lebanon's territorial integrity and sovereignty" and states that a final agreement will affirm "a permanent end to the war on all fronts."
