In a statement carried by the state-run IRNA news agency, the Bank Coordination Council said the disruption affected the National Bank of Iran, Bank Tejarat, Bank Saderat Iran and Bank Tosee Saderat.

"Technical teams immediately implemented the necessary preventive and protective measures to protect customer data and the country's banking infrastructure after identifying unusual signs," the council said.

According to the statement, preliminary investigations found that the disruption resulted from a limited cyberattack targeting the shared communications infrastructure used by the four banks.

The council said there was no unauthorized access to customer information and no data was deleted during the incident.

"Detailed technical investigations indicate that this disruption was caused by a limited cyberattack on the shared communication infrastructure of these four banks, and fortunately, no unauthorized access to customer information occurred and no information was deleted," it added.

Authorities said all critical infrastructure systems are now under the control of technical experts and that recovery and security operations remain ongoing.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attack, and Iranian officials did not provide further details about its origin or scope.
