JAKARTA, May 12 — Indonesia has tightened health screening and monitoring at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport for travellers arriving from four countries following concerns over potential Hantavirus transmission cases.
Head of the Soekarno-Hatta International Airport Health Quarantine Centre Naning Nugrahini said the enhanced monitoring applies to travellers arriving from the United States, Argentina, Uruguay and Panama.
“So we are tightening supervision on arrivals from countries where Hantavirus has been detected,” she said.
Naning, according to Antara news agency on Tuesday, said the list of countries could be expanded and revised if new cases or developments emerge.
She said her team had already carried out preparedness measures at the airport, including health declarations via the Satu Sehat app, thermal scanning, and a dedicated evaluation lane for infectious diseases.
“We also have a special ambulance for infectious diseases because the people we transport and refer are those with infectious illnesses,” she said.
Air travellers are urged to remain vigilant and continue observing health protocols as Hantavirus can be transmitted through contact with rodent urine, saliva and contaminated environments. — Bernama
