Hind Al Soulia - Riyadh - KYIV — Ukraine on Saturday accused Russia of launching more than 650 drones and missiles in a large-scale overnight assault that killed at least five people and injured more than 30 others across multiple regions.

Ukraine’s General Staff said on Telegram that its air force tracked 666 aerial targets, including drones and missiles, and claimed 610 were intercepted.

According to the military, the attacks targeted critical infrastructure in the regions of Dnipro, Kharkiv, Chernihiv, Sumy, Odesa, and Kyiv.

Ukraine’s Foreign Ministry said at least five people were killed and more than 30 injured in strikes hitting civilian infrastructure.

It said Dnipro was the main target, with part of a residential building destroyed and fears that people remained trapped under the rubble.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy offered condolences to the victims’ families and said Russia’s tactics remained unchanged.

“Attack drones, cruise missiles, and a significant number of ballistic missiles” were used, he said in a post on X, adding that residential buildings, energy facilities, and businesses were damaged.

Zelenskyy called for immediate action from international partners and said Ukraine was consulting with the European Union on possible additional sanctions against Russia.

Meanwhile, Russia’s Defense Ministry said its air defense systems destroyed 127 Ukrainian drones over several regions, including Belgorod, Bryansk, Kursk, Rostov, Crimea, and areas over the Black and Azov seas.

Moscow also said it had carried out strikes over the past 24 hours on Ukraine’s defense-industrial, fuel, energy, and port infrastructure.
