Speaking during a visit to Iran’s Sports and Youth Ministry, Pezeshkian said US President Donald has no right to deny Iran its nuclear program rights.

“Trump says Iran should not use its nuclear rights, but does not explain what crime Iran has committed,” Pezeshkian said, according to ISNA news agency.

He also called on Iranians to remain firm against what he described as a bloodthirsty and brutal enemy.

Pezeshkian said Iran must manage the current atmosphere in a way that does not portray the country as war-mongering, adding that Tehran is acting in self-defense.

He also praised Iran’s women football players competing in Australia at last month’s Asian Cup, saying they delivered a strong blow to the enemy.

The president also referred to two players who sought asylum, saying they would be welcomed back if they returned.

On Feb. 28, the United States and Israel launched a joint offensive on Iran, prompting strikes by Tehran on Israel and regional countries.

The conflict has remained on hold since April 8 after Pakistan mediated a two-week ceasefire.

Washington and Tehran held talks in Pakistan last weekend aimed at reaching a lasting peace, while efforts are underway for another round of negotiations in Islamabad.
