Hind Al Soulia - Riyadh - GAZA — Gaza requires around 450 tons of flour per day, but only about 200 tons are currently available, the territory’s government media office said Sunday, warning of a deepening humanitarian crisis.

In a statement, the office accused Israel of intensifying what it described as a policy of “engineered starvation” by restricting the flow of flour into the enclave.

Despite a ceasefire agreement allowing the entry of 600 aid trucks daily, only about 38% of pre-war supplies are being permitted, it said.

The situation has worsened after several aid organizations scaled back operations. World Central Kitchen, which had been providing 20 to 30 tons of flour daily, halted its support, while the World Food Program reduced its supplies from 300 tons to around 200 tons per day.

Other humanitarian groups have also suspended bread and flour distribution programs, further straining food availability.

Around 1.9 million people in Gaza — out of a population of 2.4 million — remain displaced, living in difficult conditions in makeshift shelters after widespread destruction of homes.

Although a ceasefire took effect on Oct. 10, 2025, conditions on the ground have not significantly improved, with shortages of food, medical supplies, and shelter materials persisting.

The war in Gaza has killed more than 72,000 Palestinians and injured about 172,000, while damaging or destroying roughly 90% of civilian infrastructure.
