Hind Al Soulia - Riyadh - DOHA — Qatar said Monday that its air defenses shot down two SU-24 aircraft and intercepted seven ballistic missiles and five drones launched toward the Gulf state.

In a statement, Qatar’s Defense Ministry said the Qatar Emiri Air Force successfully downed two SU-24 aircraft originating from the Islamic Republic of Iran.

The ministry added that air defense systems intercepted seven ballistic missiles, while the Qatar Emiri Air Force and Qatar Emiri Navy Forces neutralized five drones targeting several areas across the country.

“The threat was addressed immediately upon detection in accordance with the operational plan,” the statement said, stressing that all missiles were intercepted before reaching their intended targets.
