Hind Al Soulia - Riyadh - WASHINGTON — U.S. President Donald Trump on Saturday described ongoing negotiations with Iran as “going OK,” signaling cautious optimism while underscoring the complexity of the issues at stake.
“I think they’re going OK. Nothing matters until you get it done. So, I don’t like talking about it,” Trump told reporters aboard Air Force One.
His remarks followed indirect talks held earlier in the day in Muscat between U.S. Special Envoy Steven Witkoff and Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, mediated by Oman and attended by U.S. Ambassador to Oman Ana Escrogima.
The White House later described the discussions as “very positive and constructive,” with Witkoff reportedly conveying Trump's message that Washington is open to resolving differences through dialogue and diplomacy.
According to a White House statement, Witkoff told Araghchi: “I have instructions from President Trump to resolve our two nations’ differences through dialogue and diplomacy, if that is possible.”
“These issues are very complicated,” the statement added, “and Special Envoy Witkoff’s direct communication today was a step forward in achieving a mutually beneficial outcome.”
Both sides agreed to resume talks next Saturday. — Agencies
