Hind Al Soulia - Riyadh - SEOUL — South Korea’s Constitutional Court announced Monday that it will deliver its verdict on President Yoon Suk Yeol’s impeachment on April 4, a ruling that could either remove him from office or restore him to power.
Yoon was impeached by parliament on December 14 following a failed attempt to impose martial law on December 3. The court’s ruling will determine whether the impeachment is upheld or dismissed.
If upheld, Yoon will be officially removed from the presidency. If dismissed, he will immediately resume his duties.
The decision requires the support of at least six out of the eight sitting justices, according to Seoul-based Yonhap News Agency.
