Hind Al Soulia - Riyadh - WASHINGTON — U.S. President Donald Trump has ordered the immediate revocation of security clearances for several prominent political figures, including former Vice President Kamala Harris and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, citing national security concerns.
In a late-night memo issued Friday, Trump instructed all federal agencies to strip classified access from more than a dozen individuals, stating: “I have determined that it is no longer in the national interest for the following individuals to access classified information.”
The directive follows a similar move in February, when Trump rescinded former President Joe Biden’s security clearance and barred him from receiving daily intelligence briefings.
Among those affected are former Representatives Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger, both Republicans who served on the House committee investigating the January 6 Capitol attack.
The move also targets New York Attorney General Letitia James and Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg, both of whom have pursued legal action against Trump.
Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard had previously confirmed the cancellation of security access for several Biden-era officials, including former Secretary of State Antony Blinken and former National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan.
