Hind Al Soulia - Riyadh - BEIRUT — An Israeli airstrike in southern Lebanon has killed a senior commander in Hezbollah's elite Radwan force, three security sources told Reuters news agency.

The senior Hezbollah figure who has been killed in a strike on south Lebanon has been identified as Wissam Tawil, the deputy head of a unit within the group's elite Radwan force, Reuters reported.

Citing three security sources, Reuters said Tawil and another Hezbollah fighter were killed when their car was hit in a strike on the Lebanese village of Majdal Selm.

"This is a very painful strike," one of the security sources said. Another added: "Things will flare up now."

Hezbollah's leader Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah has previously warned Israel not to launch a full-scale war on Lebanon.

French news agency AFP too cited a security source as saying that a top commander with a leading role in managing Hezbollah's operations has been killed in an "Israeli raid targeting his car in the south".

Earlier, Lebanon's state media agency reported injuries following an Israeli drone strike on a Skoda Rapid car at 10:15 local time.

It said the vehicle was on the road in the vicinity of the Al-Dabsha area in the town of Khirbet Selm, in the Bint Jbeil district.

The strike caused the car to veer off the road and catch fire, it added.

Emergency medical and firefighting teams from the Civil Defense, Islamic Scouts, Red Cross, and other responders promptly arrived at the scene and worked on extinguishing the flames.

In another development, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said its troops killed 10 'terrorists' in Khan Younis.

Posting to Telegram, the military said its troops have killed 10 "terrorists" in Khan Younis preparing to launch rockets towards Israeli territory.

It added that its troops, along with the Israeli Air Force, struck 30 significant targets in the city in southern Gaza, including underground targets, terror infrastructure and weapons storage facilities.

The IDF said it identified and killed three more Hamas members in separate incidents in the area.

In an agricultural area in the central Gaza Strip, the IDF said troops located a tunnel shaft, thousands of dollars and weapons.

And in Al-Maghazi, central Gaza, it said troops directed a fighter jet, which struck a weapons storage facility containing long-range rockets. — BBC
